New Timelapse Videos
Finally got the last few timelapse videos up - one has been up on YouTube for a few months, but I had forgotten to add it here. The last two were pretty recent - I've begun uploading fairly regularly again, but I'm not being too precious about it, trying to keep the focus on fun, rather than obligation ^^
Timelapse Videos
Find these ones in the pixel art tutorials section!

Polar Ice Timelapse
Nice and simple timelapse for today - I made this for the iceberg theme a week or so ago for Pixel Dailies.

Kiki's House Timelapse
This was for the climbimg theme for pixel dailies - I wanted to try out drawing something with a little less detail in areas too, because I always overdo it so much xD

Cozy Celestial Library Timelapse
Pixel dailies had a theme of "ladder" which in Hannah's brain absolutely meant a magical library.
Reconnecting with my old artwork
For many years now, it feels like we've all been taught to hustle just a bit more, or to optimise our hobbies so we can turn them into a job. It definitely works for some people (depending on your specific scenario)! But it can be a trap - I'm not a high energy person; drawing and coding are my way of "relaxing". I lose myself into flow with both of them. I also code for work, so that left art for fun, except for the notion that I "should" be monetising that too, or building an audience.
It became too easy to fall into the extrinsic motivation trap (likes, views, whatever) and ultimately it felt like I was losing the things that I liked about making art. Last year, I took everything off Instagram and Facebook and just stopped posting there. I hadn't posted anything on DeviantArt in years already, or Twitter/X either.
I started looking back at my older work, especially pieces that I really liked and started to reconnect with them. Even though they're quite old now, the Dragon University picture, or my old Totoro pixel art piece remain some of my favourite artwork that I've ever made.

They were both drawn, simply because I wanted to. I had just watched the movie My Neighbour Totoro for the first time and the rain hitting Totoro's umbrella at the bus stop really had an impact on me!

The dragon drawing was an entire world that I got to explore while drawing it, just making up silly things, or drawing things I like (flowers, absurdly long hair, fantasy, superb fairywrens). People might not see those aspects by looking at the artwork and I'm probably not the best at explaining those parts of my work, but at the same time - they'll draw their own meaning from it too ^_^
The irony of whining about social media/extrinsic motivation on a journal entry about posting on YouTube is not lost on me, but I am actively NOT trying to optimise videos for views - they're a place for me to share timelapses in the hopes that others can learn from them, in the same way that I enjoy watching timelapse videos.
The new layout
My new layout has been up for a couple of weeks now and I'm really happy with it. It's probably the first layout since about 2012 that I am really TRULY happy with and I'm hoping to keep this for a long time. That's not to say the others were bad, but they didn't feel quite fitting.
This is because I leaned into what I like, not what "might" be more palatable. Apparently I like maximalism, at least in my artwork/creations (less so IRL, who likes cleaning that much?). Those small details everywhere, or gradients and textures just make my brain happy and my website feels like a space that I want to spend time in again. That feels like a weird thing to say xD But I enjoy visiting other people's personal art websites too! You get a glimpse into their world that you can't necessarily get via social media, or from a more corporate portolio presence.
Anyway, that's a lot of rambling, I'm just happy to have a space again, even if it feels like the internet is burning alongside everything else right now.
