Hollow Knight: Silksong Pixel Art Timelapse
I swear most of these have been for pixel dailies for the last while and this is no exception!
About a month ago, Pixel Dailies has the theme of Silksong. Despite liking pixel art, I am sadly not much of a gamer, but my kid is! They were showing me parts of the game and I adore the artwork. The bell beast though is VERY cute and that’s what I decided I wanted to make.
I drew the sketch of Hornet with the bell beast in an a bell shaped vignette and then promptly left it lingering for an entire month.
Given that you can only glean so much information from a timelapse and I had all the rendering footage - excepting the sketch in this case; AND it wasn't exceedingly long, I thought I'd post the full length process as well.
You can skip through to different areas of the video to see how I rendered some of the details and if you turn closed captions on, I have some commentary scattered throughout the video that way.
Most of the video is the background, which took a couple of hours to complete, with the characters taking the last hour or so. I didn't include the animation here, because I figured the rendering process was a bit more useful and I'm still trying to get used to Aseprite after moving over from Photoshop earlier in the year xD
